In the final estimate, the Empire fell because they hated each other more than they hated the rebels, and the Rebellion won because they hated they Empire (just barely) more than they hated each other. It is a near perfect reflection on the dynamics of civil war and reflects a deeply nuanced understanding of the forces of history.
Yeah, I really liked how the showed that the Rebel Alliance weren’t a cohesive unit. But they weren’t quite so willing to eat their own like the Empire was. Luthen being the somewhat exception. And even then, he’d murder for security reasons, not for screwing up.
