I like the arbitrary nature of what lightsabers can and can't cut through. Sometimes one can cut through blast doors. Sometimes getting hit with one is just a flesh wound.
I enjoyed the Vong books at first but petered out before the end. Have you read the X-Wing books? I loved those!
I've been slowing picking up the X-Wings books when see them, but haven't read them yet.
