In my fanfic lightsaber duels are usually VERY short bc even a glancing blow causes traumatic shock from a fist sized chunk of flesh bursting from super steam. A touch and you're barely on your feet, more than that and it's over 🤘
I like the arbitrary nature of what lightsabers can and can't cut through. Sometimes one can cut through blast doors. Sometimes getting hit with one is just a flesh wound.
I enjoyed the Vong books at first but petered out before the end. Have you read the X-Wing books? I loved those!
