The Link-O-Rama Strikes back
Hello there
Happy Friday and welcome to this week’s edition of the Death Star Human Resources Department Newsletter. It’s another short one this week, it’s mostly a link-o-rama. I’ve done these in the past when I want to get something published but don’t have a lot of time. I do have another excuse though, maybe it’s a good one. It depends on your point of view. And that reason is the Detroit Tigers. I have had a lot of fandoms and hobbies in my life. But the longest and most consistent fandom has been the Tigers. They last won the World Series when I was 4 years old and I’m still waiting for another one. Like most interests, it ebbs and flows. There are some seasons where I pay for MLB.tv and never miss a game. There are other seasons where where I just check the scores every few days. But it doesn’t matter how the season goes, I will always rock the Old English D1.
And as I type this, a Tigers team that on August 11 had a 0.2% chance to make the playoffs is now one game away from the ALCS. So yeah, that’s what’s been taking my attention this week. I’ll be back next week with a fully armed an operational Death Star HR. Unless the playoff run continues. Then it’s anybody’s guess. But I do appreciate everyone sticking with me.
This Is Where The Fun Begins
I know Uber drives see some shit…that might take the proverbial cake.
All Around The SubStack
Three Star Wars articles I’ve seen recently on Substack that I really liked.
There are a lot of great Star Wars writers on Substack and I hate to leave anybody out, but over at Ahch-To Baby, Matthew Freeman consistently writes really interesting articles that always cause me to reconsider my views on on the galaxy far, far away. I’m not saying he’s changed my mind about The Rise of Skywalker. But I’m at least going to give Episode IX a rewatch and keep an open mind.
The Prequels have had quite a journey back to respectability, or something near it. They’ve gone from reviled by fans, to those fans admitting that Revenge of the Sith is pretty good, to the Prequel Kiddies meme’ing the Trilogy back to respectability. But even with the new lease on life, there’s still some issues. Screenwriter and fellow Michigan-native Cole Haddon breaks down what he thinks the story needed.
Lesley Whitaker is a new writer on Substack I recently came across when they commented on the August 23rd Death Star HR where I lamented the cancellation of The Acolyte, not because it was the best Star Wars show, but because it was the most daring we’ve seen. Probably ever. Lesley writes at length about “Knights of the Old Republic” and how The Acolyte dares to call the Jedi out when very few other Star Wars shows or movies will. I don’t think it’s any coincidence that The Acolyte and The Last Jedi suggested the Jedi might not be the best, and faced the most backlash.
Plus, they wrote this:
Also, the Jedi kidnap children to raise in their temples. Why does no one seem to have a problem with this? (“Because it’s tradition” doesn’t cut it for me…I want a show about Force-sensitive parents unleashing havoc on Coruscant to rescue their Younglings, please and thank you. But I digress.)
I love the idea so much. This would never be a show, but I feel like it would could be a comic book.
Matthew, Cole, and Lesley are all awesome writers. If you like what I do, but find yourself thinking “would he just please shut up about Darth Jar Jar,” then I’d really encourage you to check out all three of them.

Star Wars legend will return for Disney Plus series, reports say
Still questioning why Disney hasn’t done a Darth Vader series. Still, cameo Vader is better than no Vader.
Ewan McGregor Says Disney & Lucasfilm Are “Exploring” Ideas For ‘Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Season 2
I’m not going to sit here and act like I won’t watch, and probably enjoy, a second season of Obi-Wan; but some new ideas would be nice.

Captain Rex? More like Captain Retcon.
Giancarlo Esposito Hints at How Moff Gideon Could Somehow Return to Star Wars
I like Esposito as an actor and Moff Gideon as a character, but just let the dead stay dead.

I will be glad to provide printouts of Death Star HR for there library.
This Day in Star Wars History
A birth and a book on October 11th in the galaxy far, far away.
Claudia Black was born in 1972. She played Klothow, one of the Nightsisters, in the last 3 episodes of Ahsoka. She’s the one who gave Morgan Elsbeth her face tattoos.
The canon novel “Ahsoka”, by E.K. Johnson, was published in 2016. The book focuses on Ashoka’s journey after she leaves the Jedi Order. If you remember the final episode from Tales of the Jedi, it loosely follows parts of the novel.
From the Depths of Wookieepedia
Oh yeah, we’re back with one of my favorite categories, food. This week it’s Karkan Stew, the Trandoshan delicacy. No information as to the ingredients, but it smells worse than rotting Vratixian barley. And you know how bad Vratixian barley smells. Pee-yousa!
That’s it for this week. If you like what I’m doing, please subscribe. I’ll catch you next week, and may the Force be with you.
Best hat in baseball. Fight me, Yankees fans.
Thanks for the shoutout! My friend John read the Rise of Skywalker peace and said "Don't make me watch it again! Why do you cause pain?"
That artwork for the badges is totally badass!
