The Death Star Human Resources Department Newsletter: November 21, 2025
The Hunt For Ben Solo isn't even close to over
Hello there
It’s two Fridays in a row that I’ve been able to get the Death Star Human Resources Department Newsletter out on a Friday. [hold for applause]. This week is a fun one, the Death Star HR Podcast returns with an interview about The Hunt for Ben Solo. Jon Favreau gives us a little hint about The Mandalorian and Grogu. The Holiday Special is canon. Or at least canon-adjacent. There’s some possible news about Rogue Squadron. And there’s all the usual Death Star HR fun.
As always, thanks for reading Death Star HR. If you’re reading this and you’re not a subscriber, I’d love it if you entered your email below and smashed that subscribe button. There’s also an official Death Star HR Instagram and an official Death Star HR YouTube page as well and I’d love it if you subscribed there as well.
This Is Where The Fun Begins
So one of my goals this year is to go to as many concerts as I can. And I’m making good on it, number 13 of the year is tonight. There’s going to be a few shows I missed that when I look back on the year, I realize I should have gone. One of them was “Weird” Al Yankovic, who was in DFW back in August. I’m a lifelong fan of Weird Al and have never seen him live. Thankfully, he’ll be back next year.
Weird Al is well known as a Star Wars fan. On his tour this year, he was closing the show with “The Saga Begins” followed by “Yoda.” Hopefully he does the same next year.
This Is Where The Fun Begins, Part 2
As long as we’re combing things I like, I’m here for an Always Sunny/Star Wars cross-over.

I’m trying to decide which Star Wars character each of the Always Sunny gang would be. Frank is obviously Palpatine. Rob is Admiral Ozzel but thinks he’s Darth Vader. Still trying to decide about Charlie, Dennis, and Dee.
The Ben Solo Discourse Will Never Die (like Ben Solo)
We are in week 4 (I think) of The Hunt For Ben Solo discourse. It is a little surprising it’s had this much staying power. People demand the Ben Solo redemption story! I wrote about it last week, a woman went viral for protesting outside of the Walt Disney Corporation headquarters in Burbank, California.
In the latest version of the Death Star Human Resources Department Newsletter Podcast, I caught up with Rachel AKA Reychel of Jakku and talked about how she ended up outside of Disney dressed as Rey, adventures in cosplay, and her Star Wars journey. Make sure to follow Reychel on Instagram and check out The Hunt for Ben Solo Movement.
The Way of the Mandalore is Helping Zeb
The hype machine for The Mandaloran and Grogu might be kicking off. Just as an aside, it would not surprise me one bit if we see a new trailer released over Thanksgiving. It would likely be the same as the trailer we’ve already seen, just one or two little snippets of new footage. Maybe it happens, maybe it doesn’t. But if a new trailer or preview does happen, just remember that I manifested it.
It’s hard to believe that it’s been six year since Mando and Grogu (or Baby Yoda as he know then known) came into our TV screens and our hearts.

How can you not love that? I suppose if Grogu in his 50’s for whatever his species is, it’s OK for him to be in the cantina.
Empire Magazine has a little preview in their next issue that gives us a little bit of insight for the new movie
“The Mandalorian has changed his priorities,” director Jon Favreau tells Empire of where Djarin is at this point. “One of the last things we say [in Season 3] is, like, ‘I don’t want to go out there and just be a hired gun. I want to work for the good guys.’” That means receiving work from Sigourney Weaver’s Colonel Ward, and working with Zeb Orrelios – the fan-favourite Lasat from Star Wars Rebels, briefly seen in Mando Season 3.
Honestly, the idea of Mando and Zeb teaming up sounds like a lot of fun.
The War on Life Day has Been Won
Where has this year gone? It feels like only yesterday it was May the 4th and I was watching Revenge of the Sith at the theaters. You blink, and all of a sudden it’s almost Life Day. It’s funny, most people think of Life Day being around Christmas. Or maybe it’s just me. But in reality (aka Star Wars canon) Life Day takes place on November 17th. As far as I can tell, Life Day officially got itself a date in 2020, when Disney released the LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special on Life Day, AKA November 17th. Since it took place on Monday, I hope everyone had a good one.
One day I hope that Life Day is truly embraced, where families and friends come together to wear red robes, get really really high, and sign the Life Day song in the manner of Princess Leia.
Not only has Disney fully embraced Life Day, even if they haven’t embraced the rest of the Holiday Special, you can even celebrate Life Day at Disney World.
If you’re in the greater Orlando area in November and December and have always wanted to wear a red robe in front of the Millennium Falcon while possibly being chased by an alligator, the Disney Jollywood Nights might be for you.
Rogue Squadron Might Fly Again
Rogue Squadron was one of the 10 projects announced back at the 2020 D23. It was planned to be a movie directed by Patty Jenkins. Then it was put on hold. Then it was revived. Now…who knows? Jenkins left Rogue Squadron to do Wonder Woman 3. I’m have no idea if Wonder Woman 3 actually happened, because Wonder Woman 2 was such a trainwreck. Which was too bad before the first Wonder Woman was a legitimately good superhero movie. But Rouge Squadron could be back, on your TV set.
Now, according to a new report, the project is taking a new flight path. Insider @MyTimeToShineH claims that Rogue Squadron is currently being developed as a Star Wars TV series.
This potential pivot isn’t completely out of the blue. Kathleen Kennedy, President of Lucasfilm, previously hinted that Rogue Squadron could be reworked into a series format.
Considering the studio’s current focus on streaming projects, the move makes sense, especially since the only Star Wars show currently confirmed for Disney+ is Ahsoka Season 2.
I try not to be the overly critical Star Wars fan. But I will go on the record and say that Rogue Squadron as a TV series would be a mistake. It is one of the canon rules of Death Star HR that Star Wars is better on the big screen. I thought that when I saw The Phantom Menace last year. I thought that again when I saw Revenge of the Sith earlier this year. If you’re going to tell the story about X-Wings pilots and space battles and all that, come on, it’s got to be on the big screen. That story demands to be told on the big screen! Don’t get me wrong, I’d like to see Rogue Squadron, but let’s do this right.
This Day in Star Wars History
Few things to mention on November 21st. There’s nothing that’s explicitly Darth Jar Jar here. But if you’re extremely Jar Jar-pilled and read between the lines, you can kinda make something up that fits the Darth Jar Jar narrative.
Author Christie Golden was born in 1963. Golden wrote three books in the
LegendsExpanded Universe Fate of the Jedi series along with canon novels Dark Disciple and Battlefront II: Inferno Squad. She also contributed several short stories to Star Wars Insider and to the first two From a Certain Point of View looks. Dark Disciple is a great novel, even if it was, well, undone by some recent cartoons. The Classic Star Wars Box Set was published by Dark Horse comics in 1995. These were reprints of the Classic Star Wars series from when the movies came out. Judging by the box set art, these were released around the same time as the remastered VHS releases.
Actor Jack Purvis passed away in 1997. Purvis has the distrinction of being the only person to appear in all three of the Original Trilogy films while playing a different character in each one. Purvis was the Chief Jawa in A New Hope, the Chief Ugnaught in Empire Strikes Back, and Teebo the Ewok in Return of the Jedi.
The Clone Wars season 1 episode Bombad Jedi first aired in 2008. I normally don’t comment on individual episodes here unless it’s maybe a series premiere or an otherwise very important episode. Usually a random episode from the The Clone Wars doesn’t make the cut, there are hundreds to choose from. So why this one? You can probably guess from the title. From the official description:
On a diplomatic mission to the planet Rodia, Padmé discovers that her old friend and fellow Republic senator Onaconda Farr has allied his planet with the Separatists. In exchange for food and resources for his people, Onaconda captures Padmé and promises to deliver her to Nute Gunray. Sensing Padmé is in trouble, Jar Jar Binks disguises himself as a Jedi, and with the help of C-3PO, courageously fights to rescue his friend and fellow senator.
You know how Jar Jar is able to disguise himself as a Jedi? Because he has Force powers! They’re just Dark Side ones. It really is that obvious.
Part 1 of the article “Slugthrowers: An Overview of Popular Music and Musicians in a Galaxy Far, Far Away” was published in on the StarWars.com blog. Remember blogs? Substack thinks its so clever when they really just rebranded blogging. The original article is no longer available but you can find the link on the Internet Archive. I think I’ll do a deep dive on Parts 1 and 2 eventually.
From the Depths of Wookieepedia
A while ago I wrote about the comic “Boba Fett: Enemy of the Empire.” As I always say, comics are for the real Sickos. In said comic, Boba Fett and Vader battle for a severed head that’s still alive. Just go with it. When I was hitting the Wookieepedia randomizer, we got Perry McNamee.
Perry McNamee was one of the colorists working on the X-Wing comics series and Boba Fett: Enemy of the Empire.
Honestly I stopped on Perry’s entry because I truly thought this was a fake name. Perry Mcname? Come on, that sounds fake. It’s up there with Guy Incognito.
