I think I see where the screening plans are coming from. Fathom Events has been hosting TV feeds in theaters during the week for a while, and the Angelika chain has been running live feeds for over a decade (the showings of “The Walking Dead” at Angelika Dallas would still be running if not for COVID). I could see, for instance, Wednesday showings of “Andor” between now and the tenth anniversary, with the option to pay for the whole show run, each season, or individual screenings. I absolutely agree that more than three hours would be interminable, especially on a work/school night, but TWO episodes at a time could very easily work. The big issue would be with the theaters, and considering the number of “Rent This Theater!” ads everywhere from the usual AMC screens to the Texas Theatre, I don’t think they’d mind not running films for empty theaters on a Wednesday or Thursday night.

That makes a lot of sense. I guess we'll wait and see if anything happens next year with the 10th anniversary of Rogue One. Maybe if pairing Andor and R1 works out, we'll see it happen more with the shows.

I also wonder just how difficult Disney is to work with. Don't know if the MC at the Texas Theatre mentioned it when you were there, but he said they got the OT for May the 4th because they were a historic theater. Which makes sense. The only times I've seen the OT on the big screen in Dallas were at the TT a few years ago, and then the marathon at the Majestic.

Yeah, they mentioned it: they were very proud of it, and with good reason. (I’m becoming more and more fond of the Texas by the day, and the dream for this summer is to host a St. Remedius event at the end of August to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the release of George Romero’s “Day of the Dead.”)

Yeah, I'm a big fan of the TT as well. There and the Alamo in the Cedars are my top two places to see a movie. I like the Angelika or Inwood as well, but those require getting on 75 and the tollway respectively while the first two do not.

Don’t get me started. I might start going back to the Inwood if they spray for hipsters. (The manager in the 2010s famously would make a big deal about the Inwood’s midnight movie lineup, and then get butthurt because only she and three staffers wanted to see “The Goonies” every other week.)

You hit the nail on the head. You couldn’t condense the story of Andor from 20 hours to three hours, especially if you want to pair it with Rogue One.

Entire arcs may have to be cut out, but I’m sure very smart people could make it digestible.

Yeah, I’m sure someone smarter than me could figure it out. Maybe this would work. From season 1 just show the Narkina 5 episodes. Cut season 2up so it’s just the Death Star planning/Ghorman stories. And then lead into Rogue One with the season 2 finale.

I’m not saying I’d necessarily like that. But you could cut down over 24 hours of screen time to something much more manageable.
